Illuminating the Most High

·211 words·1 min

1 Illuminating the Most High,
The shining orbs of the stars,
Peace, life, light, and truth,
Jesus, favor those who pray to You.

2 Through the mystical baptism,
The waters of the Jordan,
Once turned back in time,
You consecrated on this very day.

3 Whether the star, shining in the sky,
Signaled the Virgin’s birth,
And on this day, adored,
Led the Magi to the manger.

4 Or when jars full of water
You infused with the taste of wine,
The servant, though aware,
Had not filled them himself.

5 Seeing the waters change color,
Streams inebriated,
The transformed elements stood amazed
At passing into other forms.

6 Thus, for five thousand men,
While five loaves were divided,
The food grew in their mouths
As they bit into it.

7 The bread multiplied even more
As it was broken and shared,
Witnesses marveled,
Like endless flowing streams.

8 In the hands of those breaking it,
The bread poured forth abundantly;
What they had not broken
Crept in among the fragments.

9 O Savior, remember
That once from our flesh
You took form by being born
From a spotless Virgin.

10 Glory to You, O Lord,
Born of the Virgin,
With the Father and the Holy Spirit,
Through eternal ages. Amen.
