Ammon of Hadrianopolis

Ammon of Hadrianopolis was a fourth-century Egyptian monk and bishop remembered for the letter describing the death of Pachomius’s early companions. His account, addressed to the archbishop of Alexandria, is a precious eyewitness source for the first generation of cenobitic monasticism.
