Arbeo of Freising

Arbeo was bishop of Freising from 764 until his death, having earlier served the church there as deacon and notary under Bishop Joseph. A founder of the cathedral’s tradition of letters, he composed the Lives of Saints Corbinian, the founder of his see, and Emmeram of Regensburg — the earliest biographies of the two missionary saints of Bavaria.
