Basil of Seleucia

Basil of Seleucia was a fifth-century bishop of Seleucia in Isauria, a gifted preacher whose ornate homilies on the Gospels, the prophets and the saints of Scripture survive in large numbers. An eager controversialist before Chalcedon who later accepted its settlement, his sermons kept the Greek pulpit tradition alive in the generation after Chrysostom.
