The Céli Dé Monk is the anonymous compiler of the devotional works of the Céli Dé (‘companions of God’), the ascetic reform movement of the ninth-century Irish church centred on Tallaght and Terryglass. The Psalter of Quatrains and the hymns of the Irish Book of Hymns preserve the prayer-life of the Culdee tradition.
