Chilienus was a monk of Inis Cealtra — Holy Island in Lough Derg — named in the manuscript tradition as the author of the metrical third Life of Saint Brigid. The hexameter poem is elsewhere ascribed to Coelan or to Donatus of Fiesole; scholarship treats the ascription as unverifiable and dates the work broadly to the seventh or eighth century.
