Cosmas of Maiuma
Cosmas of Maiuma, called Cosmas the Melodist, was an eighth-century monk of Mar Saba and bishop of Maiuma, foster-brother of John of Damascus. His canons and hymns for the feasts, composed in the great age of the Sabaite poets, entered the permanent liturgy of the Eastern church.
