Council of Constantinople (553AD)

The Council of Constantinople of 553, the fifth ecumenical council, was convoked by Justinian to end the Three Chapters controversy. Its condemnation of the writings of Theodore of Mopsuestia, Theodoret and Ibas sought to win back the separated Eastern churches, and its capitula remain a landmark of conciliar theology.
