Council of Nicaea (325AD)
The Council of Nicaea of 325 was the first ecumenical council, convoked by Constantine to end the Arian crisis. Its creed confessing the Son as ‘consubstantial with the Father’ and its twenty canons on discipline became the foundation of Christian orthodoxy and order.
