Erasmus of Rotterdam
Erasmus of Rotterdam was a Dutch humanist, the prince of the northern Renaissance, who gave the church its first published Greek New Testament. His Paraphrases on the New Testament, his Adagia, his Greek and Latin editions of Scripture and the Fathers, and his call for a Christianity of the heart made him the most influential scholar in Europe - though he refused every party’s claim upon him.
