Gregory Palamas
Gregory Palamas was a fourteenth-century Athonite monk and archbishop of Thessalonica, the great defender of the hesychast tradition of prayer. His Triads and his doctrine of the uncreated light of Tabor, confirmed by the councils of Constantinople, made him the decisive theologian of the later Byzantine church.
