Hildegard of Bingen

Hildegard of Bingen was a Benedictine visionary, abbess of Rupertsberg, who from childhood received the visions she recorded in Scivias and two further volumes. She wrote on medicine and the natural world, composed the most extensive surviving corpus of liturgical song by a medieval woman, carried on a vast correspondence, and also wrote a Life of Saint Disibod, patron of her monastery.
