Ildefonsus of Toledo
Ildefonsus of Toledo was a seventh-century bishop of Toledo, disciple of Isidore and abbot of Agali. His treatise On Mary’s Perpetual Virginity - the first systematic Western defence of that doctrine - and his book of famous men made him a father of Spanish Mariology and the heir of the Toledan tradition.
