Irish Churchman

The later Irish Churchman is the anonymous author of the Law of Sunday (Cáin Domnaig), the ninth-century Irish text promoting the observance of the Lord’s day from Saturday vespers to Monday dawn. One of the vernacular legal-religious tracts of the period, it records the church’s teaching on rest, worship and the work forbidden on Sundays.
