Irish Grammarian

The Irish Grammarian is the anonymous author of the Hisperica Famina, the extraordinary seventh-century exercises in rhyming, coined vocabulary that trained Irish scholars in an ornate Latin. Together with the Lorica and the Rubisca they are the chief witnesses of the hermeneutic Latinity of the early Irish schools.
