The Irish Scholiast is the anonymous author of the glossary appended to the metrical calendar of Oengus the Culdee, glossing the poem’s hard words and preserving manuscript readings. Written in the eleventh or twelfth century, it shows the scholastic methods by which Irish monks kept their martyrology alive and intelligible.
