John I of Antioch
John I of Antioch was patriarch of Antioch from 429 to 441, the leader of the Eastern bishops in the controversy over Nestorius and Theotokos. His letter to Cyril of Alexandria and the Formula of Union he accepted in 433 ended the first round of the Christological quarrel and defined the doctrine of the two natures.
