John of Dalyatha

John of Dalyatha was an eighth-century monk of the monastery of Dalyatha in the Church of the East, remembered for a series of letters on the mystical life. His writings on the glory hidden in the soul and on the ’three births’ made him one of the great mystics of the Syriac tradition, though his memory was later contested.
