Macrina the Younger

Macrina the Younger was a fourth-century Cappadocian virgin, eldest sister of Basil the Great and Gregory of Nyssa, who turned her family’s estate into a community of prayer. Gregory’s Life and dialogue On the Soul and the Resurrection present her as the true philosopher of the family and the mother of the Cappadocian tradition.
