Marianus Scotus

Marianus Scotus was an Irish monk, born Muiredach mac Robartaig, who was ordained at Bamberg and lived as a recluse at Fulda and then at Mainz. Shut in his cell he compiled the Chronicon, a universal chronicle of world history from the creation to his own day, which became a principal source for the chroniclers of the twelfth century.
