The Monk of Altomünster is the anonymous author of the Life of Saint Alto, the Irish or Scottish hermit who founded Altomünster in Bavaria and whose wooden shrine still stands there. Written in the tenth century, it preserves the traditions of the Altotting valley’s patron saint.
