The Monk of Balla is the anonymous author of the Life of Mo Chua of Balla, founder of the monastery of Balla in County Mayo and noted in the annals as a learned doctor of the church. Written in the twelfth century, it preserves the traditions of one of the earliest saints of Connacht.
