Monk of Louth

The Monk of Louth is the anonymous author of the Life of Saint Mochta (Mocteus), the Briton who became a disciple of Patrick and first abbot-bishop of Louth in County Louth. Written in the twelfth century, it preserves the traditions of a saint famed for the piety of his community’s ‘hundred bishops’.
