The Nun of Nivelles is the anonymous author of the Life of Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, the daughter of Pippin the Elder who became first abbess of the double monastery her mother Itta founded in Brabant. Written within a generation of the saint’s death in the seventh century, it is one of the earliest lives of a Merovingian abbess.
