Paterius

Paterius was a sixth- or seventh-century deacon of the Roman church, remembered for the vast compilation of excerpts from Gregory the Great’s works arranged as a commentary on the Old and New Testaments. His Expositio carried Gregory’s exegesis to readers who could not master the original sermons.
