Procopius of Gaza was a sixth-century rhetor and exegete of Gaza, trained in the schools of the city and a pioneer of the catena form. His commentaries on the Octateuch, Kings and Chronicles, Isaiah and the Song of Songs gather the earlier Greek exegesis into the first great compilations of Christian scholarship.
