Pseudo-James
Pseudo-James is the name given to the anonymous author of the Protoevangelium of James, the second-century gospel of Mary’s birth, presentation and motherhood. One of the most influential of the apocrypha, it gave the church the names of her parents, the legend of her childhood and the tradition of her perpetual virginity.
