Pseudo-Melito is the name given to the anonymous author of the Transitus Mariae, the Latin account of the Passing of Mary once ascribed to Melito of Sardis. The work, which spread the legend of her assumption through the West, was condemned by Gelasius yet remained beloved of medieval readers.
