Sisoës the Great
Sisoës the Great was a fourth- and fifth-century Egyptian monk of Scetis, a disciple of Antony and one of the most revered of the desert fathers. Remembered for the austerity that kept him in his cell for decades and for the saying that he lived ‘in the presence of God’, his memory stands among the giants of the desert.
