Theodore Stratelates
Theodore Stratelates, ’the Recruit’, was a fourth-century Roman soldier martyred under Licinius, honoured in the East as one of the great military saints. His cult, twinned with that of Theodore Tyron, spread his legend - the slayer of the dragon - across the Byzantine world and into the Western calendars.
