Thomas Aquinas
Thomas Aquinas was a thirteenth-century Italian Dominican, son of the count of Aquino, who studied under Albert the Great and taught at Paris and in Italy until his death at Fossanova in 1274. His Summa Theologiae, his commentaries on Scripture and Aristotle, and his hymns for Corpus Christi joined faith and reason in the deepest synthesis of the Christian mind, making him the Common Doctor of the Church.
