Valentine of Hadrumetum

Valentine of Hadrumetum was a fifth-century abbot of the monastery of Hadrumetum in Africa, remembered for the controversy over grace that drew replies from Augustine himself. His questions on the monks’ error in attributing everything to merit made his community the occasion of Augustine’s deepest works on grace.
