¹ Now we must praise the Guardian of the heavenly kingdom,
the Measurer’s might and his mind’s design,
the work of the Glory‑Father, how he—
the eternal Lord—first established the origin of every wonder.
He first shaped for earth’s children
heaven as a roof, the holy Creator.
Then the Guardian of mankind, the eternal Lord,
afterwards fashioned for men the world,
the almighty Lord.
